Mulligatanni For Mind

Mulligatanni For Mind

Last year we announced that we would be supporting Mind, the Mental Health Charity. In November we donated 50p of every Moghlai Curry Pack sold to Mind and managed to raise an outstanding £244.50 - that’s a whopping 489 hand-made curry packs lovingly purchased by you!

Following the success of last year’s fundraising, the York store have spice spoons available in return for small donations. So far we have raised £295.44 - therefore we’ll be rolling these out to all stores in the near future.

Throughout February, we will be donating 50p to Mind from every Mulligatanni Curry Pack sold! Once again all the funds raised from these sales will be distributed to the local Mind branches located around our stores; Suffolk Mind, York Mind, Harrogate Mind, Tyneside and Northumberland Mind and Leeds Mind.

For those of you yet to experience this rich, peppery curry here’s a little background: this dish was inspired by the familiar Mulligatawny soup. The Mulligatanni however is traditionally a thin chicken broth from the days of the Raj, the name can be loosely translated to mean ‘pepper water’, which was often drank between courses in Southern India as digestive aid. Rafi created a rich curry using the base of this soup, adding tomatoes and plenty of warming spices, it’s the perfect dish on a cold, February evening to warm you right to your core.

Alongside our in-store fundraising efforts, this year some of our exceptional members of staff will be taking part in The Great North Run for Mind to represent Rafi’s Spicebox! We’ll provide more information in the upcoming months about how you can get involved in sponsoring and supporting our fab team.

Every year, one in four people experience a mental health problem. Mind provide the much needed advice and support to empower and uplift anyone experiencing a mental health problem. By supporting our local Mind charities, the organisations are able to use the funds to offer services such as Mentoring, Counselling, Advocacy, Befriending and Peer Support Groups.
