Rafi's Beef Madras Recipe

Serves: 2 - 3/4 - 6 Ready in: 1 1/2 - 2 hours

Introduction

Make this comforting recipe at home for a delicious Indian curry night with your family and friends. 

Our Madras Curry Pack is a South Indian classic that's packed with warming spices, such as mustard and peppercorns, and finished with tomatoes.

Ingredients

175ml water 300ml water
200g (1/2 tin) Tinned Tomatoes 400g Tinned Tomatoes
1/2 tsp sugar 1 tsp sugar
500g braising steak 1kg braising steak
Coriander to garnish Coriander to garnish
Salt to taste Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Cut the braising steak against the grain into inch-sized cubes.

  2. Empty the Madras Curry Pack into a pan and toast off the spices on a low/medium heat for 5 minutes.

  3. Add water, tinned chopped tomatoes, sugar and simmer for 10 minutes.

  4. Add the braising steak. Mix well, cover the pan and cook gently for 1 - 1 ½ hour on a medium heat until tender .

  5. At this stage the meat should be tender and the sauce will have reduced. If you want to reduce the sauce further, remove the lid to let the sauce thicken.

  6. Season and add fresh coriander to garnish. Serve and enjoy!
