Chana Masala Spice Mix
Cook Rafi’s version of this Indian street food recipe which is popular in Rajasthan and Gujarat.
The chickpeas are cooked in a thick, tangy tomato sauce, making a tasty Side recipe for any of our Curry Packs.
Chana Masala is a traditional recipe often found in Northern India and is usually served for breakfast with puris (fried breads). As a healthier option serve with chapatis, accompanied by yoghurt and pickle.
Try it with: Tinned chickpeas or butter beans.

- Gently heat 3 tbsp oil and fry 1 finely chopped onion till soft and translucent.
- Empty the pack into the pan with 3 fresh chopped tomatoes and 100ml water, then gently cook for 10 - 12 minutes.
- Add 2 x 400g tins chickpeas (drained) and cook for a further 2 minutes.
- Season and garnish with lemon juice.
