Cumin Potato Spice Mix
Cook Rafi’s version of this popular restaurant side recipe at home in just 30 minutes.
This recipe has earthy, savoury flavours from the cumin seeds which makes it the perfect Side recipe to add a contrast of flavours to our aromatic Curry Packs like the Korma or Rogan Josh.
We recommend using floury potatoes, when added they absorb the flavours well and become coated in the blend of spice powders and cumin seeds.
This North Indian inspired side recipe is also known as jeera aloo.
Try it with: Floury potatoes, like King Edward or Maris Piper.

- Peel and Cube 600g of potatoes, boil and keep to one side.
- Heat 2 tsp of oil in a pan and add the sachet containing cumin seeds and asafoetida.
- Cook on a medium heat for 2 minutes or until the cumin has browned.
- Add the potatoes and the remaining sachet (mixed powders) and cook for a further 2 minutes.
- Season with salt and a squeeze of lemon before serving.
