Garlic & Coconut Spice Mix
Make Rafi’s version of this fiery, traditional pickle at home in just 10 minutes. Make this fresh pickle and keep it in the fridge for when you want to add some intensity to your meal.
This is a very traditional recipe, balancing savoury garlic, sweet coconut and intense chilli heat.
We find this pickle is best served alongside a full meal, as it's fiery enough that a little goes a long way!
This ‘Pickle’ is similar to a dry garlic chutney which is often served with Vada Pavs and Dosa in India.
Serve it with: Tarka Dhal or Biryani

Cooking Instructions
- Heat 1 tsp of sunflower oil in a pan, add 20g of sliced garlic and saute for 2 minutes.
- Add sachet no.1 (coconut) and mix well.
- Remove from heat and allow to cool.
- In a blender add the garlic, salt and coconut with sachet no.2 (chilli powder) blend till smooth.
- Store mix in an air tight jar, or container in the fridge, for up to 2 months.
