Mattar Paneer Spice Mix
Cook Rafi’s version of this popular North Indian side recipe at home in under 20 minutes.
An earthy combination of paneer (Indian cheese), peas and tomatoes. Paneer is a traditional cheese made from rich milk and is most popular in Northern India.
We recommend serving the Mattar Paneer with a few other recipes to create a Thali.
Rafi wrote about this style of recipe in her Taste of India cookery book, ‘Gucci Mattar Paneer’ was a version which contained paneer, peas and mushrooms.
Serve it with: Madras or Jalfrezi.

Cooking Instructions
- Empty pack into a pan with 1 finely chopped onion and 2 tbsp oil. Fry until the onion is soft.
- Add 200g (½ tin) chopped tomatoes and continue to fry until oil separates.
- Add 250g paneer and 250g peas and cook until tender.
- Season and serve immediately with a garnish of mint.
