Red Cabbage Slaw Spice Mix
Make this super simple salad at home using Rafi’s Red Cabbage Slaw Pack. This fresh slaw can be prepared ahead of time which is great for adding to our Curry Packs or other meals.
Fresh curry leaves add citrusy flavours to the slaw and the cumin seeds provide nutty, earthy flavours.
Adding a crunchy slaw to the side of your curry gives a great contrast in texture and flavour helping to balance the meal and provide more variety.
Rafi’s son, Lee added this Spice Mix to the menu after making it at a cooking demonstration. The crowd couldn't get enough of it, so we knew we had to share the recipe.
Serve it with: Korma or Goan Green.

- Finely slice half a red cabbage and 2 red onions, and mix together in a bowl.
- Add a in the juice of two lemons and 2 tsp of sugar. in a small frying pan , gently heat 1 tbsp of olive oil , add the cumin and curry leaves and fry on a low heat for 1 minute until the spices become fragrant.
- Pour the spices over the cabbage and onion and mix well.
- Leave to rest for a least 1 hour and serve at room temperature.
