Saag Aloo Spice Mix
Cook Rafi’s version of this popular potato and spinach side recipe at home in just 30 minutes.
Our Saag Aloo Spice Mix uses warming, savoury spices like cumin, mustard and asafoetida with a healthy dose of garlic and ginger.
Rafi made a version of the Saag Aloo in the ‘Taste of the East’ cookbook and called it Palak Aloo Sag. This recipe influenced the creation of the Saag Aloo Spice Mix.
Serve it with: Balti or Tikka Masala.

- Boil 300g of small new potatoes (or peeled and diced larger potatoes), and drain.
- Heat 2 tbsp oil in a pan and fry the contents of the pack and 1 chopped onion over a medium-high heat for 3 - 4 minutes.
- Add the cooked potato, 200g of chopped spinach, 2 fresh tomatoes and a pinch of salt. Fry until the spinach is tender.
- Season and cook for a further 2 minutes.
- Garnish with coriander and serve.
