Lighter meal options

Light dinners don’t need to be boring! When we fancy a light bite to eat, we turn towards our lighter Curry Packs and to our Side Dishes, which work as great lighter main dishes.

We have a wide range of Curry Packs and Side Dishes to choose from, so to make your choice easier, we’ve picked our top 5 favourites to make when we fancy something lighter.

We’ve also included recommendations on what to serve these lighter dishes with…

  1. Coconut Vegetable Curry Pack

This lighter Curry Pack was made for the warm weather when you don’t want anything too filling. The Coconut Veg is a quick and easy Curry Pack that can be served simply with some boiled rice. Fill this curry with an array of vegetables to make this dish bright and eye-catching. We love adding peppers, baby corn, mangetout and finely sliced carrots to this delicate curry.

  1. Mattar Paneer

A must-try Side Dish that’s great as a lighter main served with soft chapatis and a dollop of yoghurt. This popular North Indian side dish is another light and quick option when you crave something light. Another simple way to serve this dish as a lighter main would be to serve it with some rice and a simple salad.

  1. Gujarati Dhal

A North Indian lentil recipe brought to the menu to add a lighter, more aromatic option - need we say more? We love serving our Dhals simply with some rice and a salad like our Kachoombar recipe. The Gujarati Dhal creates a comforting meal that’s satisfying and full of light, fresh flavours. We also have two South Indian Dhals that are much more savoury but work perfectly as lighter mains too. These are the Tarka Dhal and Sambhar

  1. Chicken Tikka Kebabs

Use our Tikka Marinade and Chicken Tikka Kebabs Recipe for a light main meal, perfect as a mid-week dinner option. Skewer the chicken or cook in chunks under a grill then serve with some rice and salad. Our favourite way to serve the chicken tikka as a lighter meal is to add the chicken tikka to a chapati with some Carrot Salad and Lime Chutney

  1. Tomato Goju

If you love your tomatoes and like trying something a little different, this is a must-try lighter meal option. Tomato Goju is a light, sweet and sour curry with a savoury Spice Mix from nutty roasted lentils, jaggery and coconut. In South India, it is usually served as a side with some rice, just before having a Rasam or Sambhar. For a lighter meal, you could add the Tomato Goju to some toast or serve it with some fluffy rice and Sambhar.

We’d love to hear if these tips have helped you in the kitchen. Let us know your feedback on our Facebook, Instagram and TikTok. We love to see your curry creations, so please send us your foodie photos across.
