Okra

Okra (also known as ladies' fingers or bhindi) is one of the most common and popular vegetables grown in India. Okra has a mild and delicate flavour and varies in texture depending on how it's been cooked.

Okra is known for its sticky texture, which comes from the seeds and can be prevented by preparing and cooking it in different ways.

To reduce this from happening, okra can be fried or roasted whole, resulting in the okra being crisp on the outside and tender on the inside. Try our Okra Fry recipe to experience this delicious vegetable, sliced into little star-shaped bites and fried.

Rafi used okra in many of her cookbook recipes such as curries, vegetarian side dishes and even Bhajias!

This versatile vegetable can be used in a variety of different dishes and is worth a try.

We’d love to hear if these tips have helped you in the kitchen. Let us know your feedback on our Facebook, Instagram and TikTok. We love to see your curry creations, so please send us your foodie photos across.
