Top 5 curries for slow cooking
Our favourite Curry Packs for cooking in the slow cooker.

Slow cookers are great for cooking dishes low and slow with minimal effort. They work brilliantly for cheap, tough cuts of meat as they become tender from the slow cooking. Slow-cooking your curry gives the spices and meat time to release all their flavours and develop a richer-flavoured sauce.
Looking for some mealtime inspiration? Why not try slow cooking one of our Curry Packs! Any of our Curry Packs would work in the slow cooker, but these 5 in particular favour low and slow cooking. For slow cooker tips, head to our Slow Cooker Curry Tips blog.
Here’s our top 5 Curry Packs for creating delicious meals in the slow cooker.
Rogan Josh
A must-try in the slow cooker. Our Rogan Josh Curry Pack favours slow cooking to develop this Kashmiri-inspired recipe. Our version of the Rogan Josh is a rich, intense and velvety curry, mixed with tomatoes and spices, including black cardamom, cloves and cinnamon.
Try it with lamb, or for a more traditional version, try it with goat.
Dhansak
A traditional, hearty recipe from the Parsi community. It would usually be served on a Sunday when there would be time for the slow cooking of the lentils and vegetables. By using a slow cooker, you’ll be able to switch it on in the morning and come home to a cooked one-pot dish.
Our Dhansak Curry Pack has earthy and savoury flavours from a blend including garlic, fenugreek leaves and nigella seeds. Usually the lentils, potato, carrot, aubergine and spinach are cooked with the spices to create a hearty masala before adding the main ingredient (traditionally, this would be goat/mutton). However, when cooking the Dhansak in the slow cooker, you can add all of the ingredients in at the same time.
Kashmiri
Are you a fan of smoky, earthy curries? If so, the Kashmiri is the perfect curry for you. It combines a blend of aromatic spices with earthy base flavours from lots of garlic and Kashmiri chillies.
The finished recipe has a rich and thick sauce with bright red colours from the Kashmiri chillies and tomatoes. Try it with lamb: Lamb shoulder adds incredible flavour to the sauce, and by slow cooking, you will end up with deliciously tender meat.
Vindaloo
The Vindaloo is a rich, traditional recipe that favours slow cooking. Vindaloo is known for its intense heat, our Curry Pack focuses on flavour.
This Goan curry traditionally uses pork belly, which is why we have our Pork Belly Vindaloo Recipe ready for you to try. Pork belly is a fatty cut of meat that creates a rich, succulent flavour when slow-cooked. It’s one of our teams favourites for a reason!
Malay Rendang
The Malay Rendang Curry Pack is Rafi’s version of a traditional curry served in Malaysia. The Malay Rendang favours cuts of meat like braising or stewing steak, making it ideal for slow cooking. The slow cooker will transform this curry into a rich, intense curry that has a zesty edge from lime leaves and lemongrass.
Don’t forget the garnish! Garnish any of these curries with plenty of fresh herbs or a squeeze of lemon or lime to balance the intensity of the sauce. For more tips on garnishing, check out our How To Garnish Curry Blog.
